In addition to being certified as a QuickBooks ProAdvisor, I have over twelve years of
hands-on experience managing businesses and bookkeeping systems. After majoring in
photography in college, I went to work for an architectural firm to see if I wanted to earn a
degree in the field. I thought it would satisfy my 50-50 split of an analytical and creative
brain. While I was managing the office I fell in love with QuickBooks, and realized the art of
bookkeeping. I felt as if I was making a living creating mosaics with numbers. In 1998, I
ventured out to Colorado and handled the bookkeeping and management of an
architectural firm and affiliated general contracting company, while working for a
photographer on the side. I absolutely loved living out west, but after five years I felt it was
time to move back home to be closer to my family. My plan was to get back to the East
Coast, but I missed the mountains too much, so I was lucky enough to find Asheville as the
perfect compromise.
Here in Asheville, I took my knowledge of business management and bookkeeping and built
from the ground up the business end of two startup building companies, and managed both
concurrently. I was responsible for bookkeeping, tax preparation, office management,
customer relations, photography, marketing materials, website mockups, and home expo
shows! I just took on whatever I thought needed to be done. I loved what I was doing but
when entrepreneurial friends and associates kept saying to me, "Man, how do I find
someone like that for my business?" I realized that there is such an intense need for other
small companies to receive the same benefit. So, I decided to venture out on my own and

My mission is to help you make a living doing what you love and using your talents, without
feeling that there will never be financial stability because you didn't choose the path of the
corporate world. You can work for yourself and be successful, it just takes some planning,
which is not everyone's forte, which is why entrepreneurs like myself come into the picture.

Goal
My goal is to make bookkeeping and managing your business enjoyable for you, rather than
a waking nightmare. I don't want to try and teach you how to track and record your finances,
that's my job. I want to show you why you track your finances, and all of the freedom,
confidence and bliss it brings you when you look at your Profit and Loss statements and
Balance Sheets and actually understand what they are and why they are so important. It
really is life-changing.
Many people cannot see the creativity and potential joy involved in creating a finely tuned
bookkeeping system, so there is this misconception, I feel, that it must be handled in a very
austere and rigid way. I am a firm believer that there is creativity and humor in everything,
and to try and find them both in the midst of a serious situation, is priceless. I think my
parents instilled in me this different way of looking at things. My father was a Commander in
the Navy but was also able to enter the Yale School of Drama and earn high marks. My
mother earned her Doctorate's degree in nursing education from Columbia University, and
when it was time to choose the topic for her thesis, she chose to study the healing effects of
humor on cancer patients. I have learned that when you are faced with one of the most
important situations of your life, a little lightheartedness is always welcome and often helps
things to run smoother.
